Our Company Story

Guaranteed Painting Co. is owned and operated by Marie and Herb Thorn. They have been painting homes and businesses in the Brazos Valley and beyond since 1992.

Herb is a second generation paint man. His father spent almost 30 years in the paint business, first as a store manager for Sherwin Williams Paints in Houston and Bryan, TX and later as a manufacturer's representative for Glidden Paints and Benjamin Moore. In 1970 he bought Chapman's Paint and Wallpaper in Bryan, TX and operated it until he sold the business in 1977. It was there that Herb began his involvement in the paint business.

He worked at Chapman's Paint through high school and as a student at Texas A&M University. During summers he began learning the craft of painting while serving as an apprentice under his father's watchful eye. Herb learned more than just knowledge of paints and painting, he learned commitment to the customer's needs and to providing the finest service and craftsmanship to each customer.

Later as a union painter in Houston, TX, he painted fine homes in the River Oaks area and after moving to the San Francisco Bay Area in the late 1970's, he continued as a union painter for Fortune Painting Co. of San Jose, Ca. There he was able to participate in painting many interesting projects, such as the Nuclear Linear Accelerator at Stanford University and Marriott's Great America, a large theme park located in the San Jose area; jobs that required vastly different skill sets and familiarity with very different types of coating systems.

Marie brings a wealth of organizational and business operational experience gained from years of operating her own construction support business in Virginia Beach, Virginia. Besides overseeing the office related duties and making sure that all of our insurance and regulatory requirements are met, she assists in scheduling work, customer follow up, and pretty much everything else that needs to be done that doesn't include picking up a paint brush or roller!

Now with more than 25 years in the painting industry and 15 years in business here in Bryan-College Station, they've demonstrated what it means to blend customer service and craftsmanship.
